Rule #4: Don't put off your corset when wearing a negligée.
Many ladies love to move around in the house wearing a light negligée only, e.g. when having breakfast with their husband or when working in the house. They dress themselves as late as short before lunch. This is not a problem, because a lady is well-dressed in a negligée, too. But she should never be so indolent as to neglect her undergarments, maybe even to appear without being corseted or dressed under the negligée only with a light vest. Even if the negligée doesn't let show the contours of the waist, it could be quite a shock for your husband and for others if they notice that you don't wear a corset; a lady should never leave her bedroom without a corset on. Besides this: a loose-fitting negligée exerts a particular attraction if a tight-laced waist can be alleged under it. In this context I'd like to mention that it is possible, of course, to wear different corsets with different waist measurements, depending on the time of day and how you feel. Those ladies who are tight-laced for festive occasions only and who otherwise are quite neglectful with their figure will always have difficulties to put on their festive dresses. Besides this they are not used to such tightness and will thus suffer from it, which can have the effect that they cannot enjoy the event as they would like to. At the beginning of each season a lady should opt for a particular corset model and a corresponding waist measurement and then have all her dresses and corsets for festive occasions and for everyday wear according to this decision. It is better for you to get used to a particular waist measurement once and then stick to it all the time instead of constantly changing between lacing and neglecting your waist. If I may give a piece of advice to our honourable readers, I'd like to tell you this: If you are being laced into your corset, do always take a tape-measure and control if the waist is tight enough for the dress that you'd like to wear. Riding and skating corsets, of course, are an exception in this context, as they are, according to their purpose, shorter and more flexible than usual corsets. But you should wear them only for the exertion of your favourite sport and then change to your normal corset again.
