Mole

In October '96, a mole has been removed from my right side. It was about 5 x 2 cm large and I had it right from the beginning of my life (do you call that congenital?). The doctors said it would be better to remove it as it could turn into skin cancer one day. So I decided to have it removed; on Wednesday, October 9th, I was in hospital to accomplish the task. The spot was anaesthetized locally; I could even observe the doctor in the glass door while she cut into my skin and kind of peeled off the mole. I could go home a few hours later. The wound hurt for some time after the operation, but after the second day the pain had gone almost completely; it itched sometimes, but that's a good sign; it means that the wound is healing. Anyway, I'm through that now. As a consequence of the operation I hadn't been able to wear my corset for several weeks. That was a pity. But about seven weeks after the operation I started wearing it again. I hoped that the wound would heal alright and that I'd be used to 17 inches again in a few weeks time. At the beginning everything went alright, but after some time - I had laced down to 47cm again - the scar made some problems, so that I preferred to leave off the corset, until the scar was alright. So, at the present moment, I still don't wear it. One exception: last week, one evening, when we went to a concert. I was laced to 50cm, and I could tolerate it perfectly well. Perhaps this has induced me to write this letter today!? I don't know how to describe it: somehow I have a bad feeling if I write letters to corset friends without wearing one; it's not really a bad conscience, but something quite similar.

Somehow it seems strange to me that this mole, which had been part of my body for so many years, has been cut out now, someone examined it and threw it away then.
